PITTSBURGH — The Cheap Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys will be without another skill player on offense as running back Jaylen Samuels will miss “roughly a month” after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Monday, coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday.
Samuels, who was spotted at the Steelers’ practice facility on crutches Tuesday, suffered a knee sprain Sunday during a loss to the Cheap Baltimore Ravens Jerseys.
“[It] showed up after the game,” Tomlin said. “We had him evaluated and saw that was necessary. So we made the decision to fix it and fix it ASAP.”
After not touching the ball during a Week 3 loss to the Cheap San Francisco 49ers Jerseys, Samuels’ role in the offense increased in the next two games as the Steelers leaned on his versatile playmaking abilities with the Wildcat formation.
Samuels took seven direct snaps during a win against the Cheap Cincinnati Bengals Jerseys and later scored a touchdown. Pittsburgh tried to use him in a similar way against the Ravens, but the results weren’t as productive, as Samuels threw an interception on the first direct snap in the first quarter and the Steelers shelved the package until late in the game.
With Samuels out, James Conner again becomes the primary back for Sunday night’s game against the Cheap Los Angeles Chargers Jerseys. He’ll be helped by rookie Benny Snell, who has six carries for 30 yards this season.
Samuels might be back to face the Cheap Los Angeles Rams Jerseys in Week 10 — missing just three games, with the Week 7 bye.
While Tomlin provided a somewhat concrete timeline for Samuels’ return, quarterback Mason Rudolph’s recovery is much less clear. Rudolph, who entered the concussion protocol Sunday after a hit by Ravens safety Earl Thomas, was at the Steelers’ facility Monday and talked with Tomlin.
San Francisco 49ers defensive back Richard Sherman says that Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield snubbed him during Monday’s pregame handshake, though video obtained by ESPN appears to show something different.
Video of 49ers and Browns players meeting at midfield for the coin toss shows Sherman walking down the line of Cleveland players, exchanging words and handshakes. When he gets to Mayfield, he appears to have some kind of physical interaction with the quarterback, though the video makes it unclear whether it’s a full handshake. Sherman also says a few words to Mayfield.
“What’s amazing, and annoying, was him not shaking hands at the beginning,” Sherman said Monday night, according to NFL.com. “That’s some college s—. It’s ridiculous. We’re all trying to get psyched up, but shaking hands with your opponent — that’s Cheap NFL Jerseys etiquette. And when you pull bush league stuff, that’s disrespectful to the game. And believe me, that’s gonna get us fired up.”
After video of the pre-coin flip interaction went viral, Sherman told The MMQB on Tuesday afternoon that the 49ers were angered that Mayfield darted away immediately after the coin toss.
“That’s it. They are making way too big of a story of a blowout,” Sherman is quoted as saying. “He pissed us off. We put a foot in his ass. End of story.”
On Monday night, Sherman was adamant that Mayfield had crossed a line by not shaking hands.
“Respect the game,” Sherman said, according to NFL.com. “You can have rivals, but pay your respect in that moment — especially when you’re young.
“He hasn’t earned anything in this league. How many games has he won? He’s acting like he was the MVP last year. If [Patrick] Mahomes did that, it would be one thing. But he would never do that, because he has too much respect for the game.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Cheap Tennessee Titans Jerseys signed kicker Cody Parkey on Tuesday, giving him another chance in the NFL after he was released by the Cheap Chicago Bears Jerseys earlier this year following an infamous playoff miss.
Parkey replaces Cairo Santos, who was released Monday by the Titans, a day after he missed four field goal attempts during a 14-7 loss to the Cheap Buffalo Bills Jerseys.
Parkey has been a free agent since being released by the Bears after he missed a 43-yard field goal that would have beaten the Cheap Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys in the first round of the playoffs.
That “double-doink” kick, after being slightly tipped, bounced off the left upright and hit the crossbar. Bears coach Matt Nagy then expressed disapproval with Parkey’s decision to appear as a guest on “Today” five days later.
Overall, he missed three extra point attempts and eight field goal tries last season, his only year with the Bears.
Parkey, 27, has made 99 of 118 field goal attempts (83.9%) in his career, with a long of 50 yards, and is 149 of 156 on extra point attempts (95.5%). He signed with the Cheap Indianapolis Colts Jerseys as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn in 2014, then was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he set an NFL rookie scoring record (150 points). He also has played for the Cheap Cleveland Browns Jerseys and Cheap Miami Dolphins Jerseys.
Ryan Succop, the Titans’ regular kicker, was placed on injured reserve before the season. Parkey and Santos both worked out for the Titans at that time.
The move to sign Parkey is likely a temporary one, since Succop will be eligible to practice after Week 6 if his knee allows him to do so. Once Succop returns to practice, the Titans will have a 21-day window to decide whether to place him on season-ending injured reserve.
The Titans also signed running backs Rod Smith and Dalyn Dawkins on Tuesday and waived offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu.
“And when you see a guy who doesn’t? You humble him every chance you get. Because eventually, he will have respect for the league — or he’ll be out of it.”
Sherman on the doubters: ‘You want idiots to sound like idiots’Richard Sherman doesn’t want anyone to flip-flop their opinion on the 49ers, if you doubted at the beginning of the season he wants you to keep on doubting.
When fans on social media questioned Sherman’s assertion that Mayfield didn’t shake his hand, the Pro Bowler doubled down in a number of responses on Twitter.
Hahahahaha a Browns fan thinking I have to make up a story lmao. Hahaha hope your time as a browns fan has been as enjoyable as I think it has.
The Browns had no comment on the situation Tuesday.
The brash Mayfield was the focus of Niners ire all night.
Defensive end Nick Bosa harassed the QB into an intentional grounding call and then pretended to plant a flag — mocking Mayfield’s planting of an Oklahoma flag at Ohio Stadium in a 2017 game against Bosa’s Buckeyes.
“I think everybody knows what that was for,” Bosa said. “I just wanted to get payback. He had it coming.”
Sherman intercepted Mayfield on the Browns’ second possession on the way to the 49ers’ 31-3 blowout.
This isn’t the first time Mayfield has been involved in a handshake controversy. Before a 2017 Oklahoma-Kansas game, Jayhawks captains refused to shake Mayfield’s hand during the coin toss.
During the third quarter of Oklahoma’s blowout win in Lawrence, Mayfield grabbed his crotch and appeared to yell “F— you!” at the Kansas sideline. As punishment, he did not start or serve as captain for the Sooners’ next game on Oklahoma’s senior day. Kansas also stripped its three players involved of their captaincy for its final game of the season.
“When he’s available to us, he’s available to us,” Tomlin said. “Just from interacting with him, it’s good to see him, obviously. He appears to be doing fine and has expressed that. That’s all I have in terms of intimate details regarding him or his status or what the week could potentially look like. I don’t want to get into the speculation. That could be endless.”
Tomlin also mentioned cornerback Steven Nelson has a groin injury, and the availability for wide receiver James Washington (shoulder) and linebacker Mark Barron (hamstring) is questionable. Linebacker Anthony Chickillo (plantar fasciitis) and fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) could return this week.
